Backblaze is a data storage provider. It offers two products: B2 Cloud Storage - An object storage service similar to Amazon's S3. Computer Backup - An online backup tool that allows Windows and macOS users to back up their data to offsite data centers. Backblaze is a pioneer in robust, scalable low cost cloud backup and storage services.
Cloud Backup - How to Set Up Backblaze B2 for Cloud Backup
- Backblaze assumes you want to back up all of your data. Most backup services ask you what you want to back up, but Backblaze asks you if there's anything you want to exclude. Backblaze might be slightly easier for people who don't want to have to think about or plan what they're protecting.
- Phone support is a bonus, but not very common. Backblaze can back up external drives connected to your computer and offers reasonable customer support. But its implementation of private.

Account Setup Guide
Setting up a Backblaze B2 account is quick and easy.
Visit Backblaze B2. Type in your email address and password and click 'Sign up for B2'.
Backblaze B2 requires a valid phone number, so you’ll need to verify yours with a text message. This also allows you to set up two-factor authentication for added security.
After verifying your phone number, you’ll see your new Backblaze B2 account page.
Backblaze B3 provides two different interfaces that Retrospect supports: B2 API and S3 API. Let’s walk through setup for each.
Information for Retrospect using Backblaze B2 API

Retrospect needs two pieces of information to access Backblaze B2.
Account ID – Use the Account ID from above.
Application Key – Use the Application Key from above.
Note that Retrospect’s B2 API requires the master key and does not support application-specific keys. To retrieve the master key, click the 'Show Account ID and Application Key' link and then the 'Create Application Key' button.

Retrospect needs two pieces of information to access Backblaze B2.

Adding cloud storage as a destination is simple. Retrospect has a new set type called 'Cloud'. Create a new backup set/media set and select 'Cloud' as the type.
Next you’ll need to enter your cloud storage credentials. Retrospect allows customers to set the maximum storage usage, up to 100TB. If you have an existing bucket, type it into 'Bucket'. Otherwise, leave that field blank, and Retrospect will walk through creating a new one.

Using Cloud Storage in Retrospect
Using cloud storage is simple. After you have created a cloud set, create a new script or add it to an existing one, and click 'Run'. The backup will begin with the contents of the set being uploaded to your cloud storage location. You can track the progress in the execution/activity.

Throttling for cloud backup and cloud restore is available in Preferences.
Backblaze B2 Fireball
Retrospect Backup supports integration with B2 Fireball. However, when doing this backup, it will be important that you create a Cloud Backup Set and not a Disk Backup set for the Fireball device.

Troubleshooting
In some cases, Retrospect Backup will receive an error during upload and need to retry. You need to set your bucket’s lifecycle to 'Keep only the last version'. Otherwise, B2 might store retain the prior incomplete copies of your RDB file, and B2 will charge you for this space.

The service consists of an online backup space where you can save any type of file, using a client software to be installed on the local computer, which takes care of uploading and therefore backing up the data.
Backblaze security and reliability features make it an optimal solution for offsite backup of personal and business data. Among these features, we must first highlight redundancy, i.e. the fact that each uploaded file is stored redundantly on multiple units, on multiple servers and in multiple locations in the data center. Backblaze data centers are located in the United States (3) and Europe (1).
To further expand its offer and to also meet third-party software, Backblaze also supports the S3 protocol, effectively placing itself in direct competition with Amazon S3 Storage, with which it has always had a rivalry in terms of cost (lower) and popularity. Iperius is an excellent choice for backing up to Backblaze, because it adds enterprise-class features to simple file backup. In this short tutorial you will see how easy it is to perform a backup of folders on a Backblaze storage space, using the S3 protocol.
The first thing to do is to create a test account on Backblaze, and configure the access keys to authenticate and upload. From the main page of the official site https://www.backblaze.com/, create a new 10 GB storage test space, as shown in the image below:
You will have to specify an e-mail address and a password, and subsequently, a mobile phone number in order to receive a confirmation code and activate the account. Once this is done, go to the configuration panel and then to the section where you can create S3 credentials:
Click on “Add a New Application Key” and then specify the required fields as shown in the image below, then click on “Create New Key”:
As soon as the credentials are created, it will be possible to copy them and use them within Iperius. The password is only shown at this time, then it will no longer be visible. It will therefore be necessary to save it in a safe place, otherwise it will not be possible to recover it (if necessary, new credentials will have to be generated). The data to take note of are the keyID, the applicationKey and the S3 Endpoint address.

In the next panel, “Destinations”, you will add a cloud destination and the related S3 account. In the image below you can see all the steps to add an S3 account with the Backblaze parameters:
Once the account has been added and saved, you can proceed to set the various destination options, such as the bucket name, the type of backup (full, incremental or differential), zip compression, etc.
Then save the destination by clicking on OK. You will then have your Backblaze destination in the list of destinations:
You can then proceed with the subsequent settings of the backup job, i.e. the schedule (to perform the backup in automatic mode based on days and times), the advanced settings, the email notifications and the execution of other processes.
